WOOD ELVES

A lightly armed Wood Elf warrior unit, one of a number of Elven units which served me well in a three way campaign we played several years ago.

These are in a motley style, with no particular regimental colours (although a few do share the lightning bolts on a turquoise background - perhaps members of the same clan.

The figures are mostly Grenadier, designed by Mark Copplestone. To mount them on Slottabases, I had to separate their feet from the original moulded bases using a sharp scalpel. I then superglued them to the new bases, (which was just about strong enough).

A couple, such as the one on the right hand end, are Games Workshop from Jes Goodwin's particularly talented hands.

The one in the centre is the unit leader, and the other two come from a 'Champions' blisterpack. They were painted in '91 to '92.

The two on the right above are the Games Workshop members of the unit. In the centre below you can see the one of them's simple but effective knotwork shield. First the pattern was drawn in a bone coloured paint, then it was outlined in black and finally it was shaded.

Below you can see three identical figures, which have all been given different colour schemes to help play down their similarity. These days I am less tolerant of duplicates and tend to convert them. The most effect for the least effort is usually to modify the head - put on a helmet, or a beard (not for an elf obviously).
